How Western Boots For Sale Can Update Your Wardrobe

By Jayne Rutledge

If you're looking for an easy way to jazz up any outfit, you simply need to invest in some striking shoes. However, shoes that catch the eye are often not very comfortable for doing actual walking in. With the great selection of Western boots for sale, however, you get to look great while being kind to your feet too.

The Western boot is also known as the classic cowboy boot. It was originally designed for riding, which is why it usually has a narrow toe that can easily fit into a stirrup. The Cuban heel keeps the foot from slipping forward in the stirrup, which would be very dangerous for a rider. The lack of bootlaces was a safety feature which made it possible for a rider to easily remove a boot that got stuck in the stirrup if the rider fell.

Ranch activities such as calf roping requires that the cowboy or cowgirl can walk and run too, which makes the Cuban heel unsuitable. Therefore the roper boot, a variation of the classic cowboy boot, has been designed. It has a low heel and is shorter. It can even have laces for extra comfort.

Leather, specifically cowhide, is usually the material used to make the boot. It is then decorated with simple stitching or more elaborately with cut-outs or inserts. Some people prefer the leather to be dyed in colors other than the traditional brown while others choose a completely different type of leather, from alligator to ostrich.

Hopefully when you bought your Western souvenir, you chose a pair that had a snug fit. At first it may be frustrating to put them on or to remove them but that's what boot hooks and jacks are for. With wear the leather will stretch to fit your feet perfectly, which is why you shouldn't buy a size that is too big when you try on the boot.

The cowboy boot and the denim jean go together like country music and a guitar. Bootleg jeans were invented in order for the wider pant leg to fit over the boot. An embroidered shirt and bolo tie, a plaid shirt or even a T-shirt works well with the look. To protect your face from the sun, you'll need a good Stetson too. Remember though that this look will simply resemble a costume if you're not actually a cowboy or cowgirl.

To wear your boots as a fashion item, try to steer away from all the other traditional Western clothing items. Instead, wear them with something contrasting like a feminine dress. Denim shorts look great in warm weather and when temperatures drop, try leggings or skinny jeans instead.

If you love the look but don't want to travel to Wyoming or Texas to get the footwear you'll need, simply look online. You can also find Western boots for sale in some boutiques, especially ones with a slightly more bohemian clientele. It's best to try on different sizes in person until you find the perfect fit. Even more perfect would be to have a specialist make you a custom pair.
