Knowing how to switch gears and take on a very different task is a notable skill. The volumes of these stories sold can be higher than normal sales because of the big names behind them but many avid readers do not realize they even exist.
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has written several books for youngsters, including "Today I Feel Silly, " "Other Moods That Make My Day, " "Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born, " and "Where Do Balloons Go?." She has two children that these stories were written for and Curtis uses the same illustrator, Laura Cornell, for all of her published stories.
Legendary country female vocalist Dolly Parton took one of her many hits and turned it into a children's story. "Coat of Many Colors" is the literary rendition of how a little girl in Tennessee was so poor that she didn't have a coat to wear to protect her from the cold. Her mother made her one from bits of fabric and rags but the children at school made fun of her new attire. She told them all how rich she felt wearing the coat her mother had made with such care and love.
James Patterson is best known for his adult mysteries. Switching to middle school writing seems out of character but his new book series is very popular among teens and tweens. The "Middle School" series is about how life is for kids this age and they can really relate to the stories.
