How To Clean Your Stuffable Animals

By Tracie Knight

Most of us love having stuffed toys. They are one of those valuable things we own. They remind us of all those moments that it represent. There are some that brings back those happy memories.

We also need to be taking care of them just like our things. We should be cleaning our stuffable animals too. They have to be clean so their appearance will be maintained. If a person keeps it maintained, it could last for years. Here are the steps for you to be able to properly clean it.

If your toy becomes dirty, look at its label for the care directions given by the manufacturer. You need to follow these directions as they are the appropriate steps which you should do. Care directions will vary based on the material they are made of. Some of it has fur coat made from synthetic materials like the polyester. Some of it has natural materials like wool as its body cover.

Have some baking soda. Sprinkle some of the baking soda to the animals. The baking soda will keep them fresh for some time. Leave the soda there for about fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes, brush it off. Do not put too much force on brushing it as you may damage your animal.

Get your vacuum and then turn it on. Use the hose attached to the vacuum to gently vacuum the particles of dust and dirt off the animals. You should do that every week. See to it that there will not be some tiny things that will be sucked off the animal. Examples of these things are its loose eyes, ribbons and bows.

If you see that there are soiled marks on it, you should remove that too. Remove it using a mild all purpose cleaner and a sponge. If it is heavily soiled, use a scrub to brush off the dirt in that area. If you wanted to remove spots and stains, you can use a rubbing alcohol for that one.

To wash toys on the washing machine needs to be the last option. Check its label again if you could have them wet. There are some of it that get damaged when it get wet so be sure to check that. If you really have to, place all of them one at a time in a pillow case. Use a safety pin to close that pillow case. Wash it on a delicate cycle mode. Add a little fabric conditioner so they would have fluffy coat.

Use a hair dryer in drying them. It would be best is a hair dryer is used rather than a clothes dryer since the stuffed animals are so sensitive. You need to be careful not to get it so close to that hair dryer. If one does not have dryer, he could let it be dried on air. It could take you many days to have it dried but that is the best thing to do to avoid them from getting damaged.

Our stuffed animals are among our precious possessions. Some of us consider it as one of our family members. Just like your family member, one should keep taking care of those.
