A New Look With Old Reclaimed Wood Wall Decor

By Beryl Dalton

Anyone who follows fashion would probably see how vintage clothing casually reappears and looks fresh again. Certainly, it's updated with more modern hairstyles, makeup, and the like. The same is true when it comes to interior design, as people are bringing in new looks with old reclaimed wood wall decor. They see the benefits and the beauty that make their house a special home.

For starters, old barn wood, for example, is a wonderful solution for the environment. As the material was used in one way long ago, it has found a new use, so it won't end up in garbage dumps. There are many uses for reclaimed wood, aside from eye-catching wall decor that would tie in beautifully for an outcome that would be the envy of everyone.

There are some people that are reserved about the material because they don't know that it would be suitable to their own style. Rest assured that it can be used in virtually any design scheme. Certainly, it couldn't be more true to a rustic theme, since it's a naturally aged material that is rustic and rough. Alternatively, consider how beautifully it could work with the modern theme. It can bring in some old to balance out the new, and some roughness to balance out the high polish.

What's more is that this wall decor can take on numerous colors, as well as rich textures that simply don't exist in other materials. Furthermore, durability can be expected because these materials are strong. Since they already appear weathered, they can stand up to a few bumps and grinds without looking or becoming damaged.

Applying it in the home is easy. It can go well in almost any room, or can be applied in various rooms to create a common theme and natural flow throughout the space. Consider using it in the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room, dining room, and so on. There is no end to where it can go, complementing the existing furniture and design scheme, or creating a bold contrast.

Personal preference certainly comes with choosing the recycled wood. It's important to remember that it was part of another structure, and since it had no longer any use in that structure, it was recycled after being disassembled. That said, it's important to choose from a good source that could inform the consumer of where it came from, and exactly what its previous use was.

Wall decorations made with this old wood can make for truly eye-catching additions that could be the subject of many conversations. These rich textures can embrace beautiful art and family photos to add more style and substance to them. Although they are old and seen as rustic, they are also a fresh approach to interior design, which has become a very big trend that seems like it's here to stay.

Entire walls are decorated with this material in order to provide that focal point that every room needs. They can dress up and otherwise bare backdrop behind the couch, or one in the bathroom. It will not only look and feel good within the space, but also within the homeowner who knows that this environmentally friendly solution has many benefits attached to it. Great ideas can be found in design magazines and online.
