If you are going for a job interview, keep everything clean with solid colors.

If you are a newbie in mixing patterns, start choosing those that are small. Repeated patterns will help you master how. Stripes will give you a military appeal. They are great for formal occasions. Wear them next to a suit and shirt that no stripes. If you want to push forward in matching them with another stripe, make sure they are on different sizes.

If you think all colors are in right places, proceed in taking a good look at its length and width. Yes, they matter. In fact, they matter a lot in how everything would turn out. There is what experts call a golden rule about its length, its tip must reach at the line of your belt. For the width, the skinny ones are more versatile compared to those that are wider.

Matching and mixing colors are not the only thing about ties. You also have to learn how to knot them properly. There are so many variety of knots that you can try but if you are a beginner, the four in hand will do the trick. It is the most common type of knot because it is easy to do and easy to pull off.

If you have a tie bar with you, use it. Do not stress yourself in how to use it properly. Just remember to place it somewhere in the middle of your third and fourth button. Do not put it too high or too low. Ties are mainly use for aesthetic purposes, you do not have to make it rule your wardrobe.
