Regarding The Power Of Soul

By Dorthy Lloyd

A soul has ten powers which correspond with the ten emanations. They all have names similar to these attributes. The soul can be expressed and also manifested using these powers. The powers are of two categories namely the encompassing powers and immanent powers. The super conscious powers named Oneg and Ratzon correspond to the inside and outside dimensions of the Keter. The Immanent aspects of the power of soul have divisions of intellect and emotions with the intellect powers being of three types.

Chochma stands for the creativity aspect which is usually unpredictable and is revealed through spontaneous creativeness and acumens. This happens as an innate flash of rational illumination not yet established or processed by bina considerate powers. Bina taken to mean understanding stands for cognitive part which advances and enunciates seminal energy possessed by the cochma so that it is known in a conceptualized detailed way.

Daat comes takes the third position in intellect faculty. It is gift to internalize and harmonize the opposing views or states of existence. It has dual roles. First is uniting cochma attribute and bina. Second is a bridge between intellect and emotion attributes opposing domains.

Love or chesed comes first in the attributes of emotion. It is inspired by benevolence force and love. It gets termed as gedula often times due to its nurturing the other soul traits to maturity and full development. Tiferet blends and brings harmony to chesed and gevura. It is referred to be the truth trait too because of its reliance to recipient merit to some extent. It however inclines towards chesed making it be known as mercy or rachamim.

There is also a fortitude and restrictive soul power which is associated with discreet judgment that could have been left out by the extreme love and kindness. Is blends the emotional power with some aspects of fear. When kindness and love guide one to be generous and unconditional, this power tells you to assess if it is really worth it. It can actually argue against doing it for the fear that they may actually be helping a non worthy person and misuse their resources. One becomes good to those who do them good.

Netzach got several meanings denoting the different specs inside the soul. It infers orchestration, eternity and victory. Common to all this aspects is persistence and initiative sense necessary to overrule resistance encountered in bringing feeling and thought to positive action. Victory implies initiative, eternity indicates persistence while orchestration implies an innovative plan to dispatch the other qualities intelligently.

Surrendering and acknowledgement complement the powers of victory, eternity and orchestration. As these powers interplay on the intended recipient, the powers of innocence and sincerity ensure that this person acknowledges that his success comes from a divine power which is mighty. This complementary relationship of opposing powers makes a complete individual.

Yesod is the trait that brings together each and every quality before it into a unit. It acts to bind the giver and the receiver as one. It is a representative of tzadik too who is regarded as the base from which the world stands. Malchut comes last and is a representation of receiving on a person the sovereignty yoke of God.
