Different Kinds Of Detailed Bridal Veils

By Leslie Ball

You can choose from a variety of ways to add sparkle and dazzle to your wedding day. Perhaps you don't have a heavily beaded gown, or you don't plan on wearing any bracelet or necklace. In this case, choosing from detailed bridal veils may just be the thing for you. There are so many options you can choose from that you are sure to find something to complement your look.

A veil with a lot of detail does not have to be very long, as the grandeur is really in the workmanship as opposed to the length. However, for a really royal look and absolute grandeur, a super long veil will work wonders. Of course, the longer the veil, the more detail necessary to cover it, which undoubtedly means that the cost will be much higher.

Lace is a wonderful detail that can really bring a veil to life. It is a good choice when the bride's dress does not have a lot of embellishment, particularly lace. Lace can be very intricate and works well by itself as an edging for a veil. Where the bride may be getting a custom gown, a custom veil to match the dress is a wonderful idea and the same lace can be used.

Lace works well by itself, but it can look better when embellished further with beads and sequins. Iridescent sequins add some sparkle without causing the veil to be too heavy. A greater amount of embellishment should be strategically placed, either at the very top of the veil where it meets the crown of the head, or at the bottom of the veil. In this spot, the weight of any beads and other detail will help to keep the veil in position as the bride moves.

You can add real sparkle and glamour by using crystal rhinestones. Flat back crystals are great for this type of project and you could request that they are scattered across the veil randomly in order to really catch the light as best as possible. You could use differently sized crystals for this sort of look.

Again, the crystals could be placed closer together and filter out from the top of the veil or they can be clustered closer to the edge, depending on the bride's preference. When deciding on where the majority of the embellishment should be, it's important to balance it with the bride's jewelry as well as any embellishment on her gown.

For a really classic elegance, turn to pearls. They can be sewn into the lace detail. Otherwise, they can be used just like crystals and scattered across the surface of your veil. Use half back pearls for something like this as they stick easily to the veil tulle.

A mixture of pearls, beads and crystals will undoubtedly add a lot of detail to any headpiece for a bride. It is absolutely fine to go all out with a veil if there is no jewelry to be worn or if the gown is rather plain. For the bride who loves to go overboard, however, a highly detailed veil with a fancy gown and carefully selected accessories will be breathtaking.
